VACANCY

Vacancy Movie Logo

When I think of a movie with Luke Wilson I’m thinking comedy. But ‘Vacancy‘ is far from being a comedy, in a thriller sence of the term. Even though I think that most thriller films are kinda’ funny just because of the stupid decisions the victims usually make in them

A young married couple becomes stranded at an isolated motel and finds hidden video cameras in their room. They realize that unless they escape, they’ll be the next victims of a snuff film.

The movie starts off a bit slow because the director spent way to much time setting up the movie, the actual action doesn’t start till you’re 30 minutes into the movie.

I was gritting my teeth a lot because there were so many obvious actions that the victims would do and you knew what was going to happen next, like most thriller movies, this one was very predictable. I was mainly gritting my teeth because the fact that there were so many things they could have done to protect themselves and could possible have made it out of their nightmarish experience before things got really bad, but then we wouldn’t have a movie would we.

There was a point they were looking for something to defend themselves and so many times I saw the towel hanger in the bathroom. I would have ripped that off the wall to use for a weapon, but what does he do?… Watch the movie, and you’ll see.

As far as thriller movies go, this one doesn’t get you sitting on the edge of your seat, because you can pretty much predict what’s going to happen next. So because of that, this is a rental folks. I would recommend you wait for the DVD as it’s not a big screen movie you can really get any better experience with the big screen.I say wait for the DVD because if you were to watch it with that special somebody, and turn off all the lights, it would actually be entertaining in so many different ways.

I’m not saying the movie is bad, it does have a small entertainment value, and it will kill some time for you.

If I were to give it a rating on a 1 to 10 scale, it would get a 6.

I really hate it when they create “stupid” characters in movies, and even in books, for that matter. A really good suspense or horror movie/story should have none of those dumb illogical actions.

I tend to lose sympathy for characters whose actions are so obviously manipulated to produce a certain outcome. And then I don’t care anymore what happens to them. That makes the movie or the book a dud.

What your referring to is when the comedy comes into play. I know it’s not supposed to be funny, but the stupidity just makes you laugh.

I like Thrillers where the victims outsmart the bad guys. Not just run and hide and get caught.
