Stuntman: Ignition

Stuntman: Ignition is the first game I have played in a long time since my old PS2 broke and I since I have just bought a new one, reviews should be something common again.
I’m glad I have gotten back into the gaming again because I really enjoyed this one. The controls were easy to handle but I bet the steering would have been a lot more smooth with an analog steering wheel though. Since I don’t have one at the moment, that was probably one of the reasons I was unable to complete the entire game because that last level was bitching. Maybe I’ll have another whack at it another time though.
The damage effects on the car and the world around you are actually pretty realistic. If you bash into something, it’s going to show a mark, and it will also show on whatever you hit. I didn’t even find any places where targeting was off. Everything lines up perfectly, and what I mean by that is, when you hit something, you actually hit it in the spot you’re aiming for, unlike some game that have this invisible barrier around it’s in game objects.
I bet this game would be even more entertaining if you used a analog steering wheel with it instead of the analog controller. I found that the gas was just an off on option, the pressure sensitive buttons wouldn’t allow analog throttling. I also found that it felt the same way with the steering, so I think a steering wheel may be something even better to play with.I would assume that an analog steering wheel would be compatible with the game since it is a driving game after all, but the instruction manual didn’t say if it was or not so I’m not entirely sure if you can actually play the game with one.
The one part that was fun with the game was that when you completed a level, you got to watch a trailer to the movie that you were the stunt man in. So all them stunts you had to perform in the level play out in the full motion movie trailer.
Since I couldn’t get the last level unlocked, I thought I would spoil it by adding the trailer here, so if you want to watch it, feel free to.
UPDATE: the following trailer is from a 3rd party source, and takes a long time to load sometimes to I’ll be adding the more tag. To view and continue, please read on. . . .
There is definite replay value in this game. Not only do you have levels to complete, you have side jobs and multiplayer modes to play with also. If that’s not enough, you can construct your very own courses in the construction mode.I can see me actually buying this game sometime down the road (No Pun Intended), because I really want to try out the Multiplayer mode in this one to. Hooking up online with a few other players seems like a load of fun to me.
So I guess if you like driving games, smashing things up, and a little bit of racing, then this is definitely the game to grab. There are limitless games play options that you can either play by yourself with, play against online players, or you can even play with a few friends in the gaming room.
Have some fun, become a virtual movie man/woman.
