Mr. Woodcock

I have always been a big fan of Billy Bob Thornton and Mr. Woodcock made it so I still feel the same without any disappointment. I really like when he plays the bad ass, prick characters, and in this movie he portrays that character perfectly. I know it’s a typical typecast role for him, but in my opinion, if he’s good at that particular role, then why not huh?

Seann William Scott is another one that seems to be typecasted into a role he does a very good job at, but his character (John Farley) needed a little bit of anger, and bad ass also, so the two main guys worked together perfectly.

Every junior-high geek’s worst nightmare becomes a reality in this comedy. John Farley (Seann William Scott) grew up as a chubby kid with no athletic skills and poor self-esteem, and during his early teenage years his nemesis was Mr. Woodcock (Billy Bob Thornton), his junior-high gym teacher, who took a sadistic glee in tormenting John and others like them. Years later, John has slimmed down, come to terms with his self-image, and become a best-selling author, publishing a self-help book on overcoming the specters of the past. John comes home to visit his widowed mother, Beverly (Susan Sarandon), and discovers she has a surprise for him — she’s getting married again, and her new fiance is none other than Mr. Woodcock. Horrified, John is determined to keep Beverly from walking down the aisle with Woodcock, and along the way finds himself struggling to settle some old scores. Mr. Woodcock also stars Amy Poehler as John’s publicist and Ethan Suplee as John’s old friend Needleman.

There are a lot of laughs to be had with this movie. There were moments that I had tears rolling out of my eyes I was laughing so hard. There were so many times that you would just finish laughing your ass off and managed to catch a breath you found yourself cracking up within seconds because it is a non stop laugh fest with this movie.

There were so many scenes in this movie that I could have posted here for a quick preview, but unfortunately, I can only do one, so why not something that will make you twinge and grab your crotch in discomfort?

If you like comedy, and a character that can be a real ass, then this is the one to catch. You can get Mr. Woodcock on DVD or you can get Mr. Woodcock on Blu-ray, whatever your preference, but I recommend you do get it and watch it, because it’s a real good laugh.
