Halloween

Look. I’ll be honest with you when I say I expected more from Rob Zombie and his movie Halloween.
I was expecting a lot more blood and gore in his version of the ‘Before Michael Myers Became Michael Myers the Killer’ movie. This is nothing compared to his other movies that he has directed, but it does have that twisted story behind it.
Rob Zombie is proving to be a pretty good Director, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of his stuff.
After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, is mistakenly released from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 10 year old) and he immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.
Although the movie isn’t filled with extreme gore as you would expect from his films, this does turn out to be a pretty good movie. It seems he has become more of a story teller in this film than a gore freaking director. There is still a lot of bad ass murderous mayhem, but it’s not your typical slasher movie where everybody decides to split up to get murdered one by one.
You’ll know what I mean when you see it. You know when you sit there watching a movie and you say out loud, “Get out of there!” well they actually do it in this movie. The actors dont play the dumb expendable roles that we used to see in the old Horror films, Rob Zombie gives his characters a bit of intelligence at least.
Michael is more of a bad ass in this film too, if you can get badder than an insane murderous serial killer that is.
This is a good movie, I just want to make it clear that it’s not your typical Rob Zombie type gore fest. It’s actually got a story to it and it is very entertaining as far as Horror Movies go.
I recommend that you see this at the movies, or at home when the DVD comes available. It’s a good watch.

I heard from a guy at work that the remake is actually pretty good.
But I still have to ask, why does Hollywood have to remake perfectly good movies? Halloween was a classic and really didn’t need a remake.

I wouldn’t really call this one a remake though. It is like a prequel of the movie series. Basically it’s how Mike Myers became Mike Myers.
Some remakes though I fin are better than the originals, but most aren’t though.
It’s like having a bedtime story read to you by somebody else. :p
