Frontier(s)

I haven’t actually seen Frontier(s) as of yet, but as soon as I can see it, I will be. That is if I get the chance to that is.

Apparently this movie has been given an NC-17 and what that means is, not a whole lot of theaters will actually show the film because it has been deemed to have extreme sadistic gore and violence. A lot of theaters try and avoid being tagged a supporter by the uptight ‘Leave it to Beaver’ type families and just refuse to show the movie at all. Which is actually pretty sad for the horror fans out there.

Although I don’t encourage violence among people in the real world, I enjoy watching a gory movie now and again. I like the shock value that they give. To actually have a movie have you sit in your seat and cringe like a little school girl at every scene that gets intense with freaky gory moments is pretty fun. A lot of times it can be laughable.

I can sit there and watch a movie like this knowing it’s not really real. It’s the directors ability to use special effects and make it look so real that impresses me. It not like I get off watching people get dismembered or anything, it more of a mind set of, what if that were you?

The movie was intended to be featured in one of After Dark Horrorfest’s 8 Films To Die For, but instead of dulling it down to a rater ‘R’ movie they decided to have it Unrated and have it set to premier in select theaters May 9th. Unfortunately, non remotely close to me. So I’ll have to wait for the DVD. You can watch the unrated Trailer to catch a gimps of the film, that is if you have the guts to.

You can actually check out the web site for locations this one is playing, hopefully you’re luckier than I am.

All I can say is that after watching the Trailer and reading about all the controversy about the film, I want to see it all the more now!
