10,000 BC

I would expect the critics that get paid the big bucks and the folks that nit-pick everything they watch to tear 10,000 BC to shreds. First thing they’ll probably point out is the obvious, and that is that all the characters speak English.
Aside from a few accuracy mistakes dealing with time line of prehistoric man and the fact that they probably grunted more than they would have spoken perfect English, this movie was very entertaining.
A prehistoric epic that follows a young mammoth hunter’s journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe.
There were parts of the movie that reminded me of Jurassic Park and you’ll know what I mean when you see it. A bit of Apocalypto, but I’m not going to dive into how this movie is similar to a lot of other movies, but instead, I’ll just comment on the entertainment value of the film itself.
I actually enjoy these genres of movies. The prehistoric theme is always something that intrigued me and I guess that’s what drew me to this one. It gets a lot of bad flack with people saying there’s more CGI than storyline, but in my opinion, I followed the story just fine. Tribe gets kidnapped, survivor tries to save them and in his journey he befriends some allies and saves the day. That’s a storyline isn’t it?
The special effects were pretty good, but these days commenting on special effects is like commenting on the casts clothing. It is something that can be done very easily not like it was in the early Star Wars days.
To sum it up, I actually enjoyed this movie, and would recommend it for a DVD rental. It’s not all that bad as some critics go on about. On the other hand, if you’re the type of person that is stern on accuracy when it comes to prehistoric story telling, then this will have you furious with facts screaming from the tops of your lungs. I would recommend steering clear, unless you can put your fact book aside for a couple of hours.
